Dr. Sandeep Sohal started volunteering in medical facilities when he was quite young. He worked in both hospitals and nursing homes, and he organized groups of students to provide the same sort of help on their own time. As a student at Duke University, Dr. Sandeep Sohal volunteered at the Duke Hospital. 

Working as a volunteer is rewarding, as you're able to provide comfort to those who don't feel well, but it can also be a bit frustrating. Dr. Sandeep Sohal wanted to do more than hand out comfort. He wanted to do something and make a real impact. In a way, his volunteer work helped Dr. Sandeep Sohal develop a passion for medicine, anatomy and for providing medical care that could help others.
